Poc Fada ar an Sneachta returns to Helsinki on 13 February 2027 for the unofficial Poc Fada World Championships. It’s the winter adaptation of the traditional Irish hurling long-puck competition.
Poc Fada (Irish for “long puck”) is a historic hurling challenge where the aim is simple:
hit the sliotar (ball) as far as possible. For this special winter edition, the competition takes place in Helsinki’s winter landscape, creating a unique Irish–Finnish sporting spectacle at Töölönlahti (beside Finlandia-talo)
• The event is free and open to everyone, kids, adults, beginners, and experienced players.
• Bring your own hurley or borrow one on the day.
• No prior experience needed.
Championship Categories: Kids, Women, Men
The event is a warm-up for Helsinki Irish Festival in March, organised with the help of the Helsinki Harps GAA Club.
After the competition, everyone is invited to continue the celebrations at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub.
