Here's what to expect at the Helsinki Irish Festival on March 14th.

The festival is kid-friendly, so there’s plenty of time for them to soak up the fun before the grown-ups settle in for the evening entertainment.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade with Irish Wolfhounds

Time: 14:00–15:00
Starts: Töölö Sports Hall carpark (Kisahalli)
Ends: Molly Malone’s

Join the St. Patrick’s Day parade as it follows along Töölö Bay, and finishes at Molly Malone’s at around 15:00


 

Molly Malones from 15.00 onwards

Workshops will run from 15:30 to 17:30. Each workshop lasts approximately 25 minutes and will repeat throughout the two-hour period unless stated otherwise.


 

Bodhrán Workshops

Learn the basics of Ireland’s traditional drum in small, hands-on sessions throughout the afternoon, with Helsinki Harps Legend Paddy Reynolds. 


 

Irish-Themed Drawing Workshop

Get creative with Irish Storyboard Artist and Cartoonist Sean Hogan for Irish-themed drawing activities, suitable for all ages.


 

Clay Figure Workshop for Kids

A hands-on creative workshop where children can make their own clay figures.


 

Irish Language Workshop

A gentle and fun introduction to the Irish language, focusing on simple phrases and sounds. Suitable for kids and beginners.


 

St. Brigid’s Cross Workshop

Learn how to make a traditional St. Brigid’s Cross and discover its place in Irish culture.


 

Kids GAA Activities Workshop

Fun Gaelic games activities for kids, using soft balls and portable goals. All experience levels welcome.


 

Helsinki Harps GAA Photo Display

A display of photographs celebrating the history of Helsinki Harps GAA.


17.30-18.00: Finnish Soda Bread Championships

Bring along your homemade soda bread and enter the Finnish Soda Bread Championships.
A judging panel will taste entries live on stage, with a prize for the winner.


18.00-19.30: Table Quiz

A fun, social table quiz to round off the day. Prizes and plenty of laughs guaranteed.


19.30-20.00: Live Music with the Helsinki Harps Folk Group

Live traditional Irish music performed by the super energetic Helsinki Harps Folk Group. Not to be missed
