Unofficial Poc Fada Ice World Championships 2026
Free to Play – Everyone Welcome, hurls and balls provided.
Poc Fada ar an Sneachta is the first ever unofficial Poc Fada World Championships on ice and will be held in Helsinki on Feuruary 15th. It’s the winter adaptation of the traditional Irish hurling long-puck competition.
Poc Fada (Irish for “long puck”) is a historic hurling challenge where the aim is simple:
hit the sliotar (ball) as far as possible. For this special winter edition, the competition moves onto snow and frozed sea, creating a unique Irish–Finnish sporting spectacle.
• The event is free and open to everyone, kids, adults, beginners, and experienced players.
• Bring your own hurley or borrow one on the day.
• No prior experience needed.
Championship Categories: Kids, Women, Men
The event is organised as a pre-promotional event for the Helsinki Irish Festival in March, with the help of the Helsinki Harps GAA Club.
After the competition, everyone is invited to continue the celebrations at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub.
